There are approximately 3.5 million HNWIs living in APAC, with combined wealth holdings of US$17.7 trillion with Malaysia being one of the fastest growing markets in terms of HNWI growth . Currently estimates are that there are 65,000 HNWI in country with US$422 billion in wealth at present. The Malaysian HNWI Population however is not static and is forecast to grow by 14.8% by 2020
Further evidence of the robust nature of the market is the presence of 572 UHNWIs in Malaysia, with an average per capita wealth of US$176.6 million. Of this total, there were 14 billionaires, 211 centimillionaires and 347 affluent millionaires. WealthInsight expects the number of UHNWIs to increase by 16%, to reach 709 in 2019. This will include 18 billionaires, 256 centimillionaires and 435 affluent millionaires.
